TRAINING COURSE IN SHIATSU AND REFLEXOLOGY
FOR HOLISTIC PRACTITIONERS, WELLNESS MASSAGE THERAPISTS

Osho Divine Healing Arts (O.D.H.A.) is the name Osho gave to this work, based on the understanding that “All Healing is Divine, the Healer is the one within”.

The art of Shiatsu is the best technique to start a process towards complete well-being, firstly because acupressure is simple and is already the method with which we often take care of our body even for minor discomforts and, as such, is received with pleasure by the body itself. Secondly, through acupressure, a person can reach different layers: muscles, viscera, and structures, and it supports the complete metabolism of the body.

Through acupressure on specific energy points in the body, Shiatsu and Reflexology help dissolve stress, stimulate the circulation of body fluids, eliminate dead cells, and reactivate stagnant energy. They benefit back pain and tired muscles, improve the general qualities of the body’s metabolism, and create the right emotional conditions for deep rest. They can also have many results in weight reduction programmes, improve quality of life and open new channels of understanding.

Shiatsu and Reflexology are both easily understood techniques that anyone can learn, with or without any particular medical background.

In the structure of the O.D.H.A. Training, the participant is frequently reminded that the professional role of the Shiatsu practitioner, although extensive, is a complementary support to traditional methods.

THE WELLNESS MASSEUR

The Well-being Masseur helps the person regain psychophysical harmony through natural, energetic, psychosomatic and spiritual techniques, stimulating a natural process of transformation and growth of self-awareness.

The holistic operator orients towards a positive and sustainable direction; he is not a therapist, does not make diagnoses, does not treat physical or psychic illnesses, and does not prescribe medicines or remedies.

The Well-being Massage Therapist helps to reactivate vital energy and promote relaxation. He can treat in tranquillity all those who rely on his professionalism to improve problems related to general states of malaise, stress, tension, and fatigue, as well as those who request his treatments purely for relaxation.

SHIATSU

Shiatsu is a manipulation technique derived from an ancient Japanese tradition, with manual treatments carried out through pressure on specific body and emotional nodes.

Shiatsu acupressure is not just a decontracting or relaxing massage but a valid channel for releasing blocked energy: in an energetic and defined manner, the masseur treats body, spirit and mind to regain lost harmony.

Shiatsu is based on ancient wisdom derived from classical Chinese and Japanese massage. Shi means finger, and Atsu means pressure. Acupressure is the basic technique that uses the fingers and knuckles of the hands to reactivate vital energies and loosen knots in the body.

From the oriental traditions of the 6th century A.D. comes this knowledge that, paradoxically, uses pressure to decompress.

Shiatsu uses only acupressure to act on the energy points of the meridians in the body (lines through which our vitality and health flow), which also acts on the senses and emotions.

LEARN AND PRACTICE

The participant learns and practices well-being massages, with well-being manipulations and movements, breathing techniques, body awareness, meditation techniques, diet and nutrition tips, communication and self-expression techniques, rest and relaxation techniques are also explained.

The participant also becomes part of a network of other Shiatsu practitioners who provide constant support throughout the curriculum and beyond.

Attending a three-year learning process provides enough time to assimilate and practise as graduation approaches. This benefit allows the participant to experience their value as a qualified Shiatsu and Reflexology practitioner, constantly bringing their creative resources into play and realising them in body-mind-spirit harmony.

Each participant represents for O.D.H.A. not only the possibility to train highly competent Shiatsu practitioners but also to train people who bring a spiritual dimension to their work.

It is a challenge to think about how a human being can perceive sensitive realities such as the network of meridians (pathways through which the internal energy of the body circulates) and especially the relationship between the different parts of the body, with all its principles (YIN/YANG, 5 PHASES, KYO-JITSU etc.) that are the foundation of this art of well-being (Healing Art) and the guide to many understandings.

Although both Shiatsu and Reflexology were initially associated with the wellness techniques mostly adopted by Eastern culture, they paved their way into the Western world and are today widely practised.

In addition to having positive results on many common bodily discomforts, this training develops a capacity for self-well-being in the participant. In many cases, the participant can treat their own body with manipulations and exercises.

When the body is not well, it has lost its ability to care for itself. The job of the shiatsu practitioner is to create the conditions for bodies that are not at ease to regain the ability to return to their normal state. This always happens through a state that can be called relaxation. Shiatsu is a very effective technique for inducing beneficial states of relaxation.

THE HEALER IS THE HEALED

This basic understanding invites the participant to experience their program of study as a process of self-healing and inner growth. In this state of awareness, a person essentially supports health in a preventive manner.

Prevention (the way of celebrating life instead of complaining about illness) is a simple way that points to a higher point of awareness for the practitioner. Through an alert and relaxed state of mind, the student remains a seeker throughout his life.

He is in no hurry to accumulate cognitive notions and uses each practice as a new possibility for deeper understanding and integration.

An advantage of the O.D.H.A. method is that very early on, it enables you to practise Shiatzu and offer a complete treatment.

The course is structured in three levels: Beginner, Student, and Graduate. The program description is iprovided in the section dedicated to each level.
